"Every buyer therefore stands exactly in the place of the seller..."
Here, Alexander Hamilton was referring to the rights of purchase, security, and the original agreement and interntion. This was made in comparison to the goverment, in which it is the same principle. The original rights can not and must not be disputed because that would display outward acts of injustice which in turn would lead to problems.
"Our rulers can have authority over such natural rights only as we have submitted to them."
This was in reference to our natural rights: our freedom. We can only give our rulers power to take over our natural rights only if we allow them to. This is taken from Thomass Jeffersons "Notes on Virginia." We can only answer to God for our actions and our conscious thought.

The Anti Federalists
"We expected too much from the return of peace, and of course we have been disappointed."
Richard Henry Lee was an American statesman from Virginia best known for the motion in the Second Continental Congress calling for the colonies' independence from Great Britain. He was a signatory to the Articles of Confederation and his famous resolution of June 1776 led to the United States Declaration of Independence which Lee signed. In this quote from "Letter from Samuel Adams to Richard Henry Lee, Lee was referring to the war once faught a time prior to. There was a lot of confusion, as well as a rise of credit. Once peace is restored in a place or in a situation, one would hope that there will not be another uprise of commotion or unstability. But there was again, and Lee expressed the disappointment. It just seems like when one problem is has ended, another has begun. That is that way it has always been in American history.

Lincoln
"We held these truths to be evident, that all men are created equal."
Slavery and independence are important underlying points from this point because Abraham Lincoln recognized that freedom is one of the most important things this country was built upon.
All men are created equal and freedom are ideals that seem important to Abraham Lincoln. I very much so agree with him. These ideals are important for a nation to prosper. All men are indeed created equal and everyone should be free. We have the same human build, with the exeption of few who have bodily disfiguration. The only things that separate us is the color of our skin, our cultures, values and traditions. In reading his Message to Congress and the Gettysburg Address, one can see that he valued honesty. I think that is important for the Americans to have.

Postwar Liberalism, Neoconservatism, and Beyond.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you- ask what you can do for your country."
John F. Kennedy was addressing both citizens of the United States and those living across the world in this Inaugural Adress of the year 1961. He believed that America could be made a better place, and that it was not all about sitting back and watching the same people take action to make things happen. The citizens should volunteer their time, money and efforts into making the nation a better nation.
"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is our problem."
Ronald Reagan made this point in his "First Inaugural Address." He felt that from time to time, the people have become adjusted to thinking that society has beome too complex and too developed to to managed by self rule. He also thought that society collectively felt that a government by an elite group is superior than a government the people. So from that he raised the idea that if someone can not govern themself, how can they govern another? This is a great logical point he raised. No one group is superior to the other, and in order to be able to effectively and accurately govern a group of people, when it all boils down, that leader(s) has to know how to govern his/her own self.
"We the people, in order to form a more perfect union."
This was stated over two hundred years ago, and Barack Obama mentioned this in his "Speech on Race: A More Perfect Union." In refernce to slavery, the idea of the Consitution was to provide liberty and justice for all. Even though this law was put into effect, slaves still suffered massive oppression. Obama states that was was indeed needed was Americans who in the future generation would strive to put that law into effect. The people need to work together to form a more perfect union and continue that march that began with the people who were born before us. There needs to be a combined, strong effort to achieve that so desires perfect union.

Black Conciousness and the Continuing Fight for Inclusion
"How does it feel to be a problem?"
W.E.B. Du Bois asks that question in his essays "The Souls of Black Folk." In one of his essays, he states that when asks that question, he can barely say a word. He tells that it is actually a strange experience to be a problem to one who has never have been anything else. I found this question to be very witty. If I were asked the same question, I would not know how to answer it myself.
"That day is past. Bitter was the day when I saw my young children unschooled."
In one of his many poems, A New Song, Langston Hughes expressed his delight in the passing of the former day when his brothers and sisters, both in blood and community were unable to recieve an education because of the color of their skin. Now, they have a voice in the community. They are able to vote, and make decisions as any human should be able to do in society. That day was bitter but now they could sing a new song, because the pain of the past centuries will be replaced with a more joyous feeling.
"History tells us that every oppressed class gained true liberation from its masters through its own efforts."
Again, from the writings of Langston Hughes. This is seen in women, the poor, African Americans and those of other ethnicities. Women for example have been oppressed for several centuries, but with the aid of feminists such as Susan B. Anthony, our voices are being heard. The poor also have a long way to go, because it takesa lot of mental strength to pick themselves up and be able to want to strive to make it to the top. There are African Americans who suffer the horrible effects of slavery till today, as well as Native Americans who have high suicide rates. But for those who break through from their oppression only broke throguh because of their own efforts. Someone had to stand up to lead the people to gain tthe freedom that they so deserve, popular examples being doctor Martin Luther King and Malcolm X.

Social Darwinism and Class Politics
"We are told every day that great social problems stand before us and demand a solution, and we are assailed by oracles, threats, and warnings in reference to those problems."
Even up to today, William Graham Sumner has a point that still stands. Everyday in the newspaper, computer, magazine, TV or any form of media, we are faced with social issues that need to be resolved. Social issues are matters which directly or indirectly affect a person or many members of a society and are considered to be problems, controversies related to moral values, or both. Under certain models of political issues, they are seen as being different from economic issues. One example can be abortions, in which many lives have been lost between the battle of pro life and pro choice. This is a great controversy related to moral values and this is where religion, culture and tradition sets in.
"The problem of our age is the proper administration of wealth, so that the ties of brotherhood may still bind together the rich and poor in harmonious relationship."
It has been said up to today: "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Lets take celebrites who have been famous for decades as an example. There are so many people blessed with the talent to sing or act or play an instrument. But they do not get their chance to become famous and make money, therefore we continuosly see the same faces in the media. Those with "underground talents" do not get the chance to make as much money because the same celebrities hold up position. Another example is high profile celebrites who make a lot of money and spend it on lavish vacations while there are people dying of hunger across the world. The gap between brotherhood will always remain apart because of selfish people. Andrew Carnegie addressed this issue in 1889, and it is still a reoccuring problem till today.
"No great idea has ever been lost. The greatest of human ideas is democracy."
Henry Demarest Lloyd made this point in his "Revolution: The Evolution of Socialism." A democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives. This is a great invention, because in other countries, the people are governed under communism, which is a form of socialism that abolishes private ownership. This goverment is practiced in countries like Cuba, and people do not have much of a say in what they want to do individually.

The Federalists
"There are two methods of curing the mischiefs of faction: the one, by destroying the liberty which is essential to its existence; the other, by giving to every citizen the same opinions, the same passions, and the same interests."
This is an exerpt from James Madisons Federalist papers whereby he discusses factions. A faction is, according to Merriam Webster, a small, organized, dissenting group within a larger one, esp. in politics. So, in essence, Madison explainded that there are two ways that the deceit behing factions can be taken care of, the first being to rid the freedom which is necessary for its thriving; the other, by giving to every citizen the same opinions, the same zeal and the same interests. His philosophy behing factions were, in my opinion quite thought provoking. Safe to say, I agree with him because something is usually bound to go wrong when in politics, there is a small group of people plotting their own beliefs against a vast majority.
"The next most palpable defect of the subsisting Confederation is the total want of a SANCTION to its laws."
Alexander Hamilton pointed out a flaw in the Confederation, it being that there is a want of sanction to the existing laws. A sanction is a threatened penalty for disobeying a law or rule, or gives official permission or approval for (an action). Hamilton is obviously against this belief that sanctions should be apllied toward laws. There should be no threatning penalties applied to any one, man woman or child for disobeying any rule.
"All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives."
In order to form a most refined and perfect union of the states and people, establish justice, insure domestic peace or tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the welfare of the people and secure our natural right to liberty or freedom. the Constitution of the United States must be established. Under Article 1, the leglislative branch is described. Powers are granted and given for those of differing levels of power or position.
